our-history

Our History

Hall’s was founded in 1952 by Percy Hall. The garage was known as a local “fixer upper,” which means you could get your car fixed for a fair price, or you could fix it yourself. Hall’s Garage was known as a place where people could get help, even if you couldn’t afford it. In the early ‘80’s, David Hall Sr. joined his father, whose health was declining. In 2008, David Hall Jr. was a senior in high school when he joined the company as an owner and kept the company moving forward.

Our Service

Having a problem, don't know what's wrong? Don't be afraid to ask us.
Here is a brief list of our most common services.

Tire Repair and Replacement

Ever wonder when to replace your worn car tires? The performance of your car tires is critical to the safety, performance and efficiency of your vehicle. We find and recommend the right tire for your car or truck at the best prices around.  Don’t forget snow tires – we’ll match any competitor’s prices!

Car Brakes

Your foot meets the accelerator pedal and your car takes off – but what happens when you hit the brakes? If you’re not confident in your vehicle’s ability to brake firm and straight, then it’s time for a brake service. With time, all car brakes need attention.

Starting and Charging System

Your car battery is one of the most important components for your vehicle to run. A car battery supplies large amounts of electrical current for the starter, engine and other electronic accessories in the vehicle. The battery also recharges and stores energy from the car’s alternator. Don’t let a dead battery leave you standed.

Diagnostic, Suspension, Drivetrain, and Exhaust

Vibrations, noises and sounds are annoying and may be a warning signal that something is amiss. So don’t ignore such symptoms. Halls will investigate any unusual noises or car vibrations immediately to determine the cause, give you a repair quote, fix whatever is ailing your auto and get you back on the road.

Cooling System Maintenance and Repair

When you drive, the parts within your engine are creating some serious friction – and that friction generates heat. Engines run efficiently when warmed up, and the temperature is maintained by many engine cooling parts; the radiator, cooling fans, water pump, thermostat, coolant, pressure cap, overflow tank reservoir and other misc. parts.

Wheel Alignment

When your tire alignment is off, your ability to drive safely is compromised. Sometimes unaligned wheels can be obvious – your car pulls to one side of the road or your steering wheel has a vibration in it from balancing issues. In some cases, it can be subtle and the driver won’t even notice. That’s why regular tire alignment checkups are a must-do.

Oil Change

Regularly scheduled oil changes are the key ingredient to a healthy engine. With scheduled oil changes, your engine will run newer, stronger and longer. At Halls Garage, our oil change services are top-of-the-line, with advanced synthetic blend and full synthetic oil that outlasts conventional motor oils – all at an affordable price. We also preform a  multipoint inspection, we check all your vehicle’s fluids, air filter check, battery check, complete tire check including pressure and tread depth, tire rotation, brake pad check, suspension check, and oil change.

Vehicle Maintenance

Preventative car maintenance and routine inspections can go a long way when it comes to keeping your car in peak condition. Following the manufacturer’s car maintenance schedule will save you time and money. When you adhere to vehicle maintenance guidelines, you are taking action against unwelcome damage and future costly repairs. We provide the best service in vehicle maintenance for cars, trucks, mini vans and large SUVs, only at Halls Garage.

Custom Fabrication

We do custom metal fabrication of everything from custom designed and built Handrails to custom hot rod and car parts. We cater to the individual needs of our customers, and strive to provide both excellence in craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction.

Buddy Dawson
Buddy Dawson

Buddy Dawson

Buddy initially came to the garage when he was 11 years old. Buddy showed up one day with his uncle to help out around the shop. Then David Sr. called and asked Buddy to help put a car engine in and he’s never left. Buddy played an important role in keeping the business moving forward while the business was switching to a new generation. He is currently a part of Hall’s Garage team.

David Hall Junior

Junior grew up at the garage. In the summers, his mother worked in the office and brought David to work with her. He rode his bike around and did painting and cleaning. He started building a truck at 12 and started working on cars with his dad’s supervision. In 2007 the wrench was passed on to Junior. “Truthfully, I can’t picture myself doing anything else” says David.

Danielle McDonald
Danielle McDonald

Danielle McDonald

Danielle had started her family and wanted to work close to home. Her father needed help running the office when her mother went back to school, so Danielle took over the books. Fortunately, Danielle had worked in retail and had gained all the skills she brought to Hall’s. Danielle is also Junior’s sister.

Kyle McLoughlin
Kyle McLoughlin

Kyle McLoughlin

Kyle had just quit a landscaping job in 2013 and 3 days later David asked him to work at the garage part time – since it was raining out and there was nothing else to do, he went over to the garage and has never left. His father was friends with David’s father and he and David Jr. grew up together, riding bikes and building jumps and now fixing cars.

Skillful & Professional

Gail and I have been relying on Hall’s Garage since we first moved to Cornwall, nearly 20 years ago, working first with David Sr. and now with the David Jr., Buddy, Kyle, and Danielle crew.  Whether it is a routine service on our daily drivers or more complex issues such as installing a modern disc brake system on the 1941 pickup or engineering the fit of a contemporary automatic transmission for the 1939 Ford, the folks at Hall’s can do it all.  They are skillful, professional, and just all-round really good.
